Pagel

We decided to have a bit of luxury during our break with a week in a small French gite resort near Le Lot in France. We drove up from Carcassone and arrived to find our safari tent, named ‘The Hippo’, waiting for us, complete with African themed cuddly toys, lots and lots of hippo related ornaments and plenty of things for Abi to do (eg age appropriate toys, books, a mini kitchen). The resort takes around 8 families and has it’s own pool, pirate ship, trampolines etc. so that the kids can all play happily together.

We met the other families at a welcome meeting and everyone was very friendly and with pre-schoolers around Abi’s age. There was a family BBQ a little later in the week, and plenty of chance to play and make friends in the pool every day. This was the last week of our heatwave, so it was still incredibly hot, and we didn’t venture far, except to the market town of Cahors. This has a fantastic Unesco Heritage Site Bridge across the river on which the town stands. It also has a lot of character and a great food market.

Abi really enjoyed her week here making friends with English speaking kids and we loved staying the safari tent. The kids club is run by an English teacher 3 times during the week and Abi had a great time running around the gardens, finding flowers, grasses etc. to make things with.  The resort is owned/run by a Hove based family and we managed to get a last minute discount which made the stay even more pleasant!
